History of the Hotel
Built in the 1890s alongside the development of Balintore Harbour, the building originally known as The Commercial Inn has long been part of village life in this Easter Ross fishing community. Established during a time of major change in the area, it quickly became a central gathering place for locals, fishermen, and visitors, remaining a social hub for generations under the care of several local families.
In 2024, the then derelict building was purchased by the Scott family of Fearn, who set out to restore and revive the site with a focus on celebrating local produce and the surrounding coastal landscape. Following extensive renovations approved by Highland Council, the building reopened in 2026 as Shore Hotel.
Today, Shore Hotel brings new life to a historic setting, combining a restaurant, public bar, soon to be takeaway hatch, and en suite accommodation, while continuing its long tradition as a welcoming place at the heart of Balintore.
